Add RDS Performance Insights Data to AWS Integration

Looking to do alarms on queries that are causing significant load to our Aurora Postgres cluster. These can be identified using performance insights. These would be classified under Database Load -> SQL. The other metrics are of course very helpful, but the goal is to be able to create an alarm for any query that has a load above X.

This helps us identify quickly of queries that may be missing indexes or recently deployed and missed optimization.

We take feature ideas seriously and our product managers review every one when plotting their roadmaps. However, there is no guarantee this feature will be implemented. This post ensures the idea is put on the table and discussed though. So please vote and share your extra details with our team.

@chad.upton Thanks for posting your feature idea here - I’ll get a poll added here for you, and file a request internally for RDS monitoring.

Hi,

Any updates to this?

@nansari - Can you take a look at the metrics reported by the RDS Integration:
https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/integrations/amazon-integrations/aws-integrations-list/aws-rds-monitoring-integration

Let me know if that’s what you’re looking for

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for reaching out so quickly. I might be wrong here but there are some metrics described here that are not covered in Newrelic (or maybe I am just not reading the docs right).

I think you’re right - there may be some that aren’t collected by New Relic. I’ll get your +1 added onto the feature idea here for more metrics to be recorded.
