Note: This primarily affects users on the New Relic One user model, not users on our original user model (learn more about user models).
On August 17, 2021, we started to enforce role restrictions for basic users. Before this, basic users always had the capabilities they started with, no more and no less, even if they were put into a group that had been assigned a very restrictive role.
On August 17 and after, however, basic users will be restricted by the role they’re assigned. For example, if you create a group and assign that group a custom role with very limited capabilities, and then add a basic user to that group, all users in that group, whether basic or full, will be restricted by that role.
