I am getting an error if I try to set my timezone from User Preferences.

I was unable to replicate the issue you are seeing here. When I view your user settings I am only able to see two fields and they are both marked as read only. I have created a case with our accounts team on your behalf to help narrow this down further and provide a solution. Please keep an eye out for an email from them shortly.
