Feature Idea: Auto-Scheduling Muting Rules

Interesting approach, thank you. How to silence alerts during specific time window, e.g. between 3am-5am Eastern Time?

Currently this feature is API only, with no scheduler. You would need to set up cron jobs to enable and disable predefined muting rules if you wanted to use them during specific time windows.

ok, it would be nice to have a simple way of doing it in future.

Although I do not know the timeline, I can say that a scheduler is on the roadmap for this feature!

@miksh - I got the suggestion added to the feature ideas space so that the Alerts team can gain a bigger picture of demand for this

Hi All, we are in development with this capability. We will be delivering a UI and a single-instance scheduler in the near timeframe. We will implement recurring scheduling later in the year.

Yes, Auto Scheduling for Muting will be more helpful.

Essentially - within weeks you’ll be able to schedule a 1 time muting rule, and not too long afterwards you’ll be able to schedule recurring muting rules.

I just saw the updates there in the link you posted. Just asking though if there is any update of this feature that we can only set the muting rule one time and it is recurring? This will be very helpful for us. Thank you

I’m not from NewRelic (just an avid user), but seems that as of January 2021, it’s possible to schedule recurring Muting rules. Citing from here https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/alerts-applied-intelligence/new-relic-alerts/alert-notifications/muting-rules-suppress-notifications#schedule-muting-rule

You can schedule your muting rules to recur daily, weekly, or monthly. A muting rule that’s scheduled to repeat weekly includes the option to select the days of the week to recur. If no days are selected, the weekly recurrence will default to repeating on the day of the week that the muting rule is scheduled to start
