Feature Idea: High Security / HTTP Parameters

tag

#1

Hi,

I am interested in using new relic for a Python/Django app that I work on. I intend to enable high security mode, but I would like to know exactly how HTTP parameters are handled.

Ideally I would like to be able whitelist HTTP parameters that are allowed to be sent to new relic, e.g.

http://example.org?whitelisted_parameter=123&not_whitelisted_parameter=abc

Ideally I would like this to show up in new relic as

http://example.ord?whitelisted_parameter=123&not_whitelisted_parameter=?

Is that possible?

Cheers,

Pete

We take feature ideas seriously and our product managers review every one when plotting their roadmaps. However, there is no guarantee this feature will be implemented. This post ensures the idea is put on the table and discussed though. So please vote and share your extra details with our team.

After reading through the documenation some more I believe this is possible:

https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/agents/python-agent/attributes/python-agent-attributes

Using: request.parameters.* configuration.

I have yet to test this however.

Hey @Nma7! Thanks for reaching out about this. Unfortunately, I do not believe what you are describing is possible at this time. I’ll link to the doc below that I am referencing.

https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/agents/manage-apm-agents/configuration/high-security-mode

I will be happy to pass this along as a feature idea. Please be sure to vote for this functionality in the poll above. Thanks again!
