SharedWoker support

How should I instrument browser SharedWorkers? They don’t have window so the newrelic agent might not work.

I can’t post a link to MDN, but search MDN for SharedWorker and you’ll find docs on this.

New Relic Edit

Hey @aleck.landgraf,

Thanks for reaching out. I took a look at the SharedWorker docs and my initial impression is that the Browser agent might not catch the same instruction from these as sites that are loaded through more traditional means. You may find some data available from the default instrumentation, but I can’t say I know enough about this particular subject to predict exactly what would be available by default. Could you provide more detail on what kind of instrumentation you are looking for from the SharedWorkers objects?

Error reporting is the main goal.

Hey @aleck.landgraf - I think your assumption is correct; I don’t think our Browser agent would be able to gain visibility into SharedWorker objects.

After looking at the docs though, I can certainly understand the value in measuring performance! I’m going to tag this for our admins to turn this into a feature idea so the community can also vote on it.
