Feature Idea: Is there a guide to instrumenting a Nextjs application?

feature-idea

#1

Greetings,

I am looking for a guidelines on instrumenting a [Next.js](h t t p s:// nextjs . org/) (Discuss says I can’t post a link, so I broke it up :frowning:) application. Next.js is a bit of different animal with server side rendered react pages. I have found some questions here and there regarding New Relic and Next.js. Curious if there is something a bit more ‘official’ in setting up APM for it.

Thank you!

Brett

Hi @BrettskiTHAT -

In terms of the Node Agent, it is designed to instrument backend Node applications. Much of our instrumentation is built off of the framework that the agent detects. At this point, Nextjs is not a supported framework that we test against. You can read about the frameworks that we do support in our docs at the following link:

That being said, there are a number of ways you can customize instrumentation with our Node Agent APIs. You may be interested in exploring these for your use case:

Additionally, I can also file a feature request on your behalf to add support for Nextjs.
