Feature Idea: Log forwarding via syslog on CentOS 6

Hi, we have some “legacy” infrastructure on CentOS6 in need of log forwarding to NR.

Now I understand that the native fluentd library used by newrelic-infra to send logs to the collector is unsupported on CentOS/RH 6, so I was wondering if at least the syslog plugin could be enabled in the future.

Thanks

Hey @dario.mango - Thanks for posting here - I’ve just got your feature request logged here for you.

You mentioned FluentD, though, I believe the Infrastructure agent uses FluentBit as it’s log forwarder.

For now you may have success with one of the other supported log forwarding services, like Logstash or FluentD described here: https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/logs/enable-logs/enable-logs/enable-new-relic-logs#enable-logs

The Infrastructure agent’s log forwarder will be auto disabled by the lack of a logs.yml file in the Infra agent directory.
