Feature idea: Private Minion k8s compatibility

My company has an interest in running private minions to monitor our internal services, but because they are not compatible with kubernetes, we’re not entirely sure where to put them. It’s a huge hassle to spin up and have to maintain VMs in every single environment for just this, so my question is this: Is there any effort ongoing to make the CPMs compatible with container orchestration platforms? It seems insane to me that the container would orchestrate itself (and therefore needs access to the docker.sock, which in our environments would mean running as root).

Please make this happen!

New Relic Edit

  • I want this too
  • I have more info to share (reply below)
  • I have a solution for this

We take feature ideas seriously and our product managers review every one when plotting their roadmaps. However, there is no guarantee this feature will be implemented. This post ensures the idea is put on the table and discussed though. So please vote and share your extra details with our team.

I know this is absolutely something our Synthetics team and product manager are interested in. I don’t know about timeline, but I believe this to be on the roadmap.

I’ve added a feature request internally for you anyway, to make sure the team is aware of the demand for K8s support in Synthetics private minions.
