Feature Idea: Support bitwise operators in NRQL

I would like to propose a feature for New Relic Query Language: support bitwise operators.

For example, a user might have an attribute (column) “flags” in the data, and like to query:

SELECT count(*) FROM Transaction WHERE flags & 0x100 > 0 SINCE 1 day ago

where 0x100 is a significant bit for the application status.

I believe it will be very useful for lots of applications. Thanks.

We take feature ideas seriously and our product managers review every one when plotting their roadmaps. However, there is no guarantee this feature will be implemented. This post ensures the idea is put on the table and discussed though. So please vote and share your extra details with our team.

Sounds like a great addition to me, @hanx! I have added a poll to your post so that we can start collecting votes from other customers who would like to see this.

Please add as many use cases as you can! Thanks!

Querying bloom filters is another use case.

Hey @vinay.nagaraj1 Thanks for sharing the use case that matters to you! I’ll get that one added internally for you
