Feature Idea: Use the YML file to also set deployment marker

feature-idea

#1

I was looking at how to get deployment markers for my applications in releases. There all dockerised and were using the https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/agents/java-agent/configuration/java-agent-config-file-template and replacing the license key and the app_name when we build our dockers.

So then I look at how to place the markers:

https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/agents/java-agent/instrumentation/monitor-deployments-java-agent

And I think I have all this information already semi in the yml file.

Why can’t I set the attribute reversion: 5.3.0 so that on boot up the agent can place a marker on the deployment. This would make rolling back also super easy and trackable.

New Relic Edit

  • I want this too
  • I have more info to share (reply below)
  • I have a solution for this
