New Relic Lite Accounts Upgraded to Free Plan

Good news! The promotion that gave Lite accounts unlimited access to New Relic One expires Dec 31. Instead of reverting back to the limited access Lite accounts had before the promotion, they’ll be automatically upgraded to our perpetual free tier, which includes full platform access to all New Relic One capabilities.

That means that you can use New Relic to monitor, troubleshoot and set alerts for your entire stack, including APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, Digital Experience Monitoring, Applied Intelligence, and more.

The free tier plan provides:

  • Up to 100GB of telemetry data ingest per month. (Only $0.25 per GB per month beyond), including standard data retention levels of 8 days and up.
  • 1 free Full user with access to the entire platform
  • Unlimited free Basic users with access to data ingest, querying, dashboards, and alerts.
  • 100 million free Proactive Detection app transactions per month (Only $0.25 per million app transactions per month past the free limit)
  • 1,000 free Incident Intelligence events per month (Only $0.50 per incident event per month beyond the free limit)

FAQs

Do I need to do anything?

No. All your relevant New Relic One dashboards, instrumentation, and alerts will remain the same.

Do I need to pay to continue using New Relic One?

No. Lite accounts will be automatically moved to our free tier, which includes:

  • 100GB per month of free data ingest from any source.
  • 1 free Full user.
  • Free unlimited Basic users.
  • 100 million free Proactive Detection app transactions per month.
  • 1,000 free Incident Intelligence events per month.

If you’re over these free tier limits, you’ll be prompted to add a credit card to continue using New Relic One. However, you’ll only be billed for GBs or users above the free limit each month going forward.

What happens if I go over my monthly free data limit or want to have more than 1 Full user?

With New Relic One, you only pay for what you use beyond the free limits. Our simplified pricing on Standard includes the following:

  • $0.25 per GB ingested per month beyond your first free 100GB of data per month for all your events, metrics, traces, and logs on Telemetry Data Platform.
  • $99 per additional Full user (up to 5 Full users) per month for Standard Full-Stack Observability, which includes APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, Digital Experience Monitoring (Browser, Mobile, Synthetics), Logs in Context, Serverless Monitoring, and more.
  • $0.25 per million app transactions per month beyond your first 100 million app transactions per month free for Proactive Detection.
  • $0.50 per incident event per month beyond your first 1,000 incident events per month free for Incident Intelligence.

Is there any way to downgrade to the previous limited access Lite account?

Hi @mkwan, to answer your question, no, there is no way of downgrading back.

Well that’s not good…

@dfugate - We’ve definitely made some big changes, but we do think you’ll find the new Free Forever plan even better than the lite version of the original New Relic. The new Free tier gives you access to the entire platform, so you’re not limited with what you can do with your data. If you have any specific questions about the plan, we would love to help you with them.

I understand that, but from our side it is a “cost” issue. We are staying under 100GB a month currently. But we have 10 users. 1 user is the owner, but is no longer at our company. I’ve downgraded most of the other users to “Free basic plan”. Our goal is to have one login, but I am unable to create logins. We need to removed the “owner”, and insure we have 1 login that has full access. Please advise - thank you! -Doug [Redacted by New Relic]

Gotcha @dfugate - we can help you get the owner of your account changed so that you can better manage users. I’m getting a case started for you, so be on the lookout for an email from our team.
