Pre-release of Go agent 3.0 is available

Hello Go agent users,

Our imminent release of Go agent 3.0 is a major release that includes some breaking changes. These changes will make future use of the Go agent much easier.

The pre-release version of Go agent 3.0 is available to everyone as Go agent v2.16.1.

The only prerequisites are that you meet the compatibility requirements listed in our public docs site.

You have to deliberately opt-in to try out this release by following the instructions in our changelog on github. You will not be able to formally try out the Go Modules functionality until the GA release of Go agent 3.0.

Based on customer feedback on the proposed 3.0 changes, we are also intending to implement this: https://github.com/newrelic/go-agent/issues/106#issuecomment-553542288

There will be a 2.16.2 release to expose this new capability for your feedback.

This will mean that you will not be able to directly compare timing information on the transactions between the v2 and v3 agents. You may also have to change your alerting or custom dashboards to match.
