Show bucket size on timeseries charts

Right now, the only way to see the bucket size on timeseries charts is to hover over 2 adjacent data points and subtract the times. This is extra time and mental energy I have to spend when I’m in the middle of debugging something or just trying to understand my system.

In the old dashboards, it was a little easier because it would show a time range instead of a single time when hovering over a point, but this is still not ideal.

Right now, below the chart title, it shows the time period for the whole chart like this:
Since 1 day ago

There’s plenty of room to add the bucket size like this:
Since 1 day ago (4 minute buckets)
Since 1 day ago (interval 4 minutes)

New Relic Edit

  • I want this too
  • I have more info to share (reply below)
  • I have a solution for this

Thanks @clwatrou - I added a poll to this so others can weigh in and I will send this to our team right away.
