Wanted to understand the networking of new relic agent?

#1

Wanted to understand the networking of new relic agent, like if I am using Ruby agent within Kubernetes container, how does agent send data to new-relic?

#2

Hi, @disha.singhal: The agent always sends data to the New Relic via https POST, regardless of where the application is hosted. If your application is running in a container, you will need to publish port 443 to the host machine.

#3

Hi, @philweber, can you share a sample POST request and also the hostname that agent uses to communicate?

#4

A list of endpoints is available here: https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/apm/new-relic-apm/getting-started/networks. The content of the POST requests is not documented; I do not have a sample.
