I’m on the newrelic ONE client on the dashboards page (https://one.newrelic.com/launcher/dashboards.launcher) and I was able to set up a page view activity easy enough, but now I want to show unique users per day and I have no idea how to go about doing this. Is there a site somewhere with recipes for setting up common dashboard widgets?
Hi, @ejorgens: There is a library of common dashboard templates here: GitHub - newrelic/quickstarts-dashboard-library: The Quickstarts Dashboard library is a collection of dashboards for use in the New Relic platform.. There is also a NRQL Lessons app you can add to your account to learn the New Relic query language.
The challenge with calculating unique users is that by default, New Relic does not record a unique ID for each user. The closest you can get out of the box is sessions per day, based on a random session ID generated each time a user visits your site:
SELECT uniqueCount(session) FROM PageView WHERE appName = 'Your Application' SINCE 1 week ago FACET weekdayOf(timestamp)
SELECT rate(uniqueCount(session), 1 day) FROM PageView WHERE appName = 'Your Application' SINCE 1 week ago
