Trigger an action when a New Relic Alert is fired?

#1

Hello

I would like to perform an action like triggering a powershell script to perform a IISreset when an alert is fired. Does anyone have a similar implementation or suggestion how i can accomplish this? I saw some advice on using webhooks but im not totally clear how to implement that on new Relic side.

Thanks in Advance

Hi, @innokentiy.rozenberg: All New Relic can do is post to a REST endpoint when an alert incident is opened, closed, or acknowledged. You can learn how to set up a webhook notification channel here: https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/alerts/new-relic-alerts/managing-notification-channels/notification-channels-control-where-send-alerts#webhook.

In order to trigger an action, you will have to create your own REST endpoint to receive the webhook post. You can then parse the JSON payload and decide what action to take. You may find this thread helpful:
